Macro Ships a Customized BXL-3100 Line to the Ukraine

In the fall of 2003 Macro shipped a customized BXL-3100 blown film line to the company Trade House "Plant Delta" Ltd. from the city of Kiev, Ukraine. The BXL-3100 is a 3-layer, 1.1 meter wide blown film line designed to produce tubing or film, up to 1.0-meter wide, for making heavy-duty bags. These bags are used for packaging fertilizers and industrial chemicals and can be up to 250 microns thick. The film is coextruded using blends of LDPE, LLDPE and metallocenes.

Macro integrated a 4-color flexographic stack printing press from a third party with the BXL-3100 coextrusion line to allow for in-line printing before winding. A reversing unit, integral to the press, allows the tubing or film to be printed with 4-colors in the front, or 3-colors in the front and 1-color in the back, or 2-colors in the front and 2-colors in the back. The in-line printing saves a step in converting the bags and allows the extruded rolls to be sent directly to the bag-making machine.

When bags with side gussets are required, a Macro designed skew post gusseter allows forming gussets in the tubing before winding. The post gusseter is installed after the press and before the winder. This setup makes it possible to manufacture bags with printing in the side gussets.
