Macro Names Jim Stobie Chief Executive Officer
(March 14 2013, Mississauga, Ontario) Plastic film and sheet extrusion machinery supplier Macro Engineering & Technology Inc. announced today that Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jim Stobie has been appointed Chief Executive Officer; a new position within Macro.
“Jim is an experienced leader who consistently delivers results,” said Mirek Planeta, President and Founder of Macro. “I have tremendous confidence in Jim’s ability to drive company growth in a manner that is aligned with Macro’s fundamental commitment to innovation.”
Effective immediately, Stobie will oversee engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing and services at Macro from the company’s headquarters location in Mississauga, Ontario.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to help lead Macro into its next phase of innovation and growth following the same tradition that has made Macro successful over the past 35 years,” said Stobie. “We are committed to putting our customers first, building relationships, investing in people and technology, and delivering value and quality to our clients.”
Stobie, who joined Macro in 1993 and held the role of Sales Manager from 1997 to 2006, rejoined Macro in 2012 after a 6-year stint as Vice President of Sales at Brampton Engineering. He brings to Macro experienced sales leadership and industry knowledge acquired over 25 years in the film and sheet extrusion machinery sector, with the past 15 years spent in leadership roles. Stobie is a past president of the Plastic Film Manufacturers Association of Canada and is an active member of TAPPI and SPI.
Macro created the CEO position to allow President, Mirek Planeta, to step away from the day-to-day operations of the business; freeing his time to focus on technical efforts for R&D and applying his knowledge to the demands of Macro’s complex engineering projects.
